Frequently Asked Questions about the Coordination Training Program

Who Should Attend?

Elected officials, local leaders, experts, attorneys, and all citizens who are interested in securing the future of their community, should plan to attend. We ask that there be a minimum of 25 attendees to host a succesful class.

Who is the Instructor?

The course instructor will be Margaret Byfield or Dan Byfield depending upon availability and the issues of concern in your area.  Both have extensive experience guiding local governments through successful coordination actions and have trained many communities on how to use the process.

What Follow Up is Provided?

Once you complete your training and begin the coordination process, we will continue to provide as much or as little expertise as you need.  You can sign up for our Local Outreach program which is an annual $1500 fee.  This service includes strategy development, meeting preparation, drafting letters, and other types of activities.  Our goal is to provide as much support as you need while you learn the process to ensure that your community is successful today and into the future.  Visit our Local Outreach page for more information.

What Does the Course Cost?

Our fee for the Coordination Class is $1500 plus Travel Expenses. In addition, the training materials provided are $35 per attendee, with a minimum purchase of 25 sets. The training materials consist of a Workbook and our Red Coordination Strategy Booklet.

Usually, an organization, individual or even local government sponsors the course and charges a nominal fee to attendees recovering their expenses.

Some groups have requested closed training sessions where the host determines who to invite to attend.  In this case we do not advertise these sessions to our membership, however for all other sessions we give advance notice of the training to our members.

How Can I Schedule a Training Session?

You can schedule a training session by calling or emailing our offices.  Generally we will need to know:

  1. When you would like to hold the course?
  2. Where the course would be held?
  3. What are the primary issues you would like to resolve?

Simply call 512-365-2699 or email us with your request at asl@americanstewards.us.  We will work with you to learn more about your community and the issues you face in order to schedule the most productive session for your area.

  4. Once a date is confirmed we will send you our host checklist, create your promotion flyer and list your event on our website as well as advertise the session directly to our members.
